Family: Cyperaceae (sedges) Maximum height: 90cm

 

Where found:

  • Sand dunes, local and uncommon although now planted in several locations.
Description:
  • Older leaves distinctively golden. Stiff and harsh leaves 2-5mm wide produced on a creeping rhizome.
  • Seed heads dense, shorter than the leaves with very small dark brown smooth and shining nuts.
  • Palatable to rabbits, especially when young
