Family: Euphorbiaceae Maximum height: 50 cm

 

Where found:

  • Coastal sands, cliffs and rocks but local and uncommon.
  • Also now planted by New Plymouth District Council in city gardens.
Description:
  • Similar to many garden variety Euphorbias.
  • Blue green-leaves (2-10 x 1.5-2.5 cm) are borne on erect unbranched stems.
  • When the stems are broken they exude a milky sap.
  • Flowers and fruit are found near the top of the stem.
