Family: Asteraceae (Daisy family) Maximum height: 3 metres

 

Where found:

  • Subalpine scrub and shrubland
  • Becomes more prominent at the upper altitudes of the scrub zone on Mt Taranaki/Egmont
Description:
  • Shrub with erect or spreading branches
  • The grooved branches are covered in a yellow sticky wool
  • Leathery leaves (5-12 mm x 1-2 mm) with sticky brown hairs on the undersurface
  • Dense flower heads are 25 - 40 mm across with 8 - 15 florets, flowering from December to April
