Family: Epacridaceae Maximum height: 12 metres

 

Where found:

  • Subalpine scrub and shrubland on Mt Taranaki/Egmont
  • Between 1100 and 1400 metres above sea level
Description:
  • A grass like tree with slender upright or spreading branches
  • The rigid leaf blades (100-250 mm x 30-50 mm) taper to a long fine point, the margins are usually smooth and the outer surfaces are rounded
  • Tiny white flowers with 6-15 flowers on short lateral branchlets up to 50 mm long, flowering during November and December
