Where found:

  • Lower montane forest and scrub, Mt Taranaki/Egmont
  • Up to 1200 metres
Description:
  • Shrub or small tree with angular branches
  • Thin but leathery broad leaves with bluntly toothed margins, shiny upper surface, satiny dense matted hairs (tomentum) on the undersurface
  • Large round white flowerheads with 15-20 individual flowers (up to 15 mm) on each
  • Thin, papery bark which peels in long thin flakes
