Description: |
- Spreading tree sometimes called 'NZ oak'
- Leaves are 10-40cm consisting of 4-6 pairs of alternate leaflets.
Leaflets are 5-10cm long x 2-5cm wide. The margins are sharply
toothed.
- Tiny flowers are unisexual, dark red and in panicles up to 30cm
long
- Very distinctive seeds, glossy black and partly embedded in
a scarlet fleshy fruit enclosed in a woody seed capsule
