- Lowland forest and forest margins
- River/stream banks, second growth forest or scrub

| Description: |
- One of the more common Olearias throughout the North Island
- Spreading tree with a short trunk when in the open or in enclosed
forest or scrub grows as a 2-3m tall shrub, or as a tree with
crown and long trunk
- Leaves are thin but leathery with serrated margins (5-15cm x
5cm)
- Large sprays of white daisies with yellow centres up to 18cm
across consisting of 12-24 individual flowers (1cm across), flowering
from August to November
- Branchlets and leaf undersides covered in soft, white/fawn dense
matted hairs (tomentum)
- Thin greyish-brown bark
