Family: Loganiaceae (Logania family) Maximum height: 4 metres

 

Where found:

  • Coastal and lowland forest
  • Common component of understorey and forest margins
Description:
  • A bushy, branching shrub with slender, rather brittle branches
  • Pale green, shiny, opposite leaves (5-7cm x 2-4cm) are ovate/broad narrowing to a tip, pale undersurfaces with prominent raised veins
  • Small (6mm) light green hairy flowers
  • Fruit is a capsule 5-10mm x 5mm and hangs on drooping stalks after flowering, black when ripe
