Family: Cyperaceae Maximum height: 20 cm

 

Where found:

  • Coastal sand in damp situations, seaward slopes of sand and gravel beaches
Description:
  • Small hardy sedge that sends out underground runners
  • Blue green curved and channelled leaves with smooth margins, 30cm x 4mm, short flower stems (culms) with 3-7 close spikes
  • Large, corky, light brown, beaked fruit pods (utricles)
