Family: Restionaceae Maximum height: 1.5 metres

 

Where found:

  • Borders of salt marshes and estuaries or in sand dune hollows on the coast
Description:
  • Rushes with dense, upright, wiry clumps; separate sexes (diocious)
  • Flower stems unbranched, dull, grey-green or orange or purple, more coloured in winter
  • Female plant on left of picture, male on right
