- Coastal forests in the north of Taranaki,
Southern limit near Uruti
- Up to 600 metres
- Favours rich soils
|
| Description: |
- Much branched small tree with a trunk up to 80cm diameter with
a spreading crown when growing in the open, more upright in the
forest
- Oval leaves are leathery with wavy margins (50-125 mm x 30-50
mm)
- Sweet scented yellowish flowers; dioecious
- Drupes 15-20 mm long are a purple colour
- Dark brown bark on which lichens often grow
