Description: |
- A rounded bushy shrub with stout branches
- Dark green leaves which are large (50-100 mm x 25-50 mm), leathery,
glossy and fleshy, the margin and the midrib are reddish
- The tubular flowers are purple or magenta occurring on lateral
spikes with a mass crowded at the branch tip, flowering from January
to October
- One of the few brightly flowering shrubs of New Zealand, now
commonly cultivated
