Family: Cyperaceae (sedge family) Maximum height: 2 metres

 

Where found:

  • Coastal or lowland in open damp situations
  • Gravel beaches, river flats, stream sides and wet pasture
Description:
  • A clumped sedge with pale green shining, rough, cutting, curving leaves, 8-15 mm wide, the leaves have visible cross-veins
  • Narrow spikelets, keeled leaves 8-15 mm wide, tall flower stems with dark brown/purple shiny spikes
