  • Sea level to 550 metres
  • Exposed coastal situations, lowland scrub and forests
Description:
  • Erect shrub or small tree with spreading upright branches.
  • Branchlets and leaf buds are usually sticky. Fibrous, spreading root system.
  • Narrow elliptical leaves supported by 1cm long petioles (leaf stalks). 40-100 mm long by 10-30 mm wide. Dark green on upper surfaces with lime-green underneath.
  • Flowering from September to January. Flowers without petals, in groups (panicles) up to 40 mm long. The fruit is a compressed, yellowish-red seed capsule about 15 mm across with two to three thin, veined, broad, lobed wings. Fruits from November to March. Male and female flowers on separate trees (dioecious).
  • Thin reddish-brown flaky bark.
